Values and Ethos

Our Vision

A small and mighty school where everyone flourishes in the heart of the community.

How does our vision shape the ethos of our school?

At Barcombe CE School, our vision drives the work we do to ensure that all members of our school community flourish academically, personally and spiritually. This vision is championed in lessons across the curriculum where children and teachers set high standards and endeavour to achieve them; where the individual needs of each child are planned for and barriers to learning are removed; and where classrooms are collaborative and cooperative learning communities that encourage us all to be the best we can be and bring out the best in others. As a school that adopts a therapeutic approach to supporting the holistic needs of children, we enable both children and staff to flourish in calm, purposeful and nurturing learning environments. We are proud of our proven track record of excellence with the high levels of attainment and progress of children achieved during their time at our school and value the role of the village around the child that fosters this. Being active and engaged members of the community ensures that children at Barcombe are outward-looking and develops their role as global citizens and responsible neighbours. We are thoughtful about the ways in which the school can give back to the community and ways in which the community can enhance the experiences and opportunities at school.

Our Values

We are guided by the six core Christian values of Compassion, Responsibility, Perseverance, Forgiveness, Hope and Courage. These values shape our behaviours and attitudes both in school and out and are championed and promoted across the curriculum and in all aspects of school life.
